DO YOU REMEMBER? All-time TV series

Since I promised to post some information about top TV series that I remember fondly, here you have the theme song of the one I've chosen for today's post.

Thank you for being a friend. Travel down the road and back again. Your heart is true, you're a pal and a confidant. And if you threw a party, invited everyone you knew. You would see the biggest gift would be from me and the card attached would say, thank you for being a friend.

Yes, The Golden Girls. Didn't you love them? Tart-tongue Dorothy and her salty Sicilian mother, Sophia, former farm girl Rose and Southern belle Blanche. This sitcom is based on the lives and interactions of these four older women whom have all been divorced/widowed, and are now roommates.

Now, would you like to know what Golden Girls character are you? Well, take this quiz to find out.

I've not chosen this sitcom, just by chance. Apart from loving it myself, I chose it in order to pay tribute to one of the actresses who has recently died. I'm talking about Bea Arthur ("Dorothy") who died last April.

Comments

  1. When I was young, I used to watch this sitcom. My favorite character was Sophie because she was witty and she has a very clever sense of humour.
Dorothy was serious but I like her common sense. I dont`t konw she died last April.

  2. Yes, I loved it too. I think that what made the show so successful was that the characters' personalities were completely different. What do you think?

"It was a bright cold day in April," goes the first line of 1984, "and the clocks were striking thirteen" George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four opening sentence. Another 35 years have elapsed since then, and Nineteen Eighty-Four remains the book we turn to when truth is mutilated, when language is distorted, when power is abused, when we want to know how bad things can get.
