Grit: The power of passion and perseverance (TED Talk). Subtitles and transcripts available.
What are the takeaways from this TED talk?
1. Grit and perseverance
2. Growth mindset
3. Attitude to mistakes
"Grit is passion
and perseverance for very long-term goals. Grit is having stamina. Grit is
sticking with your future, day in, day out, not just for the week, not just for
the month, but for years, and working really hard to make that future a
reality. Grit is living life like it's a marathon, not a sprint."
"...the ability
to learn is not fixed, that it can change with your effort...." Having a growth mindset vs. a fixed mindset.
Growing your mind (Khan Academy video)
Neuroplasticity (video)
"So growth mindset is a great idea for building grit.... We need to take our best
ideas, our strongest intuitions, and we need to test them. We need to measure
whether we've been successful, and we
have to be willing to fail, to be wrong, to start over again with lessons learned."

And remember, HAVE PATIENCE! There's no magic wand. Any goal worth achieving is going to take time. Your main objective is to stay on track. If you continue to work toward your goal, you'll begin to see the results in time. Apparently, it takes approx 21 days to form a habit....
In short:
- We celebrate making mistakes - we can learn from them.
- We never give up - perseverance is the key if we are to succeed.
- We learn from each other.
- We don't compare ourselves with others.
- We challenge ourselves and take risks.
- We remember that our brains are making new connections and growing all the time.
IMPORTANT: Don't let stress get the best of you. Remember: How do you eat an elephant?
